After I have finished editing the Christmas video and while the cookie dough is now resting in the fridge, I would like to write you one last newsletter this year and do a little promotion.
Ah yes, it's a tumultuous time before Christmas!
Freedom
Can't you give it a rest? I asked myself today, on the 3rd of Advent, during a wonderful walk in the sunshine around the Spielmannteich in Braunschweig, which was a little bit frozen and thus again offered wonderful motifs for photos and videos. I had just finished editing the video for "River".
However - these pictures and colors are even more beautiful than the ones I already had, that I have to - no! want to - rework everything again. I don't have to do anything!
I could have just been content with what was already good and save time and work. But somehow everything is so beautifully colorful here and I can't decide at all, to say it with Nina Hagen.
I admit, I sometimes have a little problem with that.
There are always so many things to do, to write, to try out and to embellish.
What a blessing to be freelance and have the freedom to do everything, but at the same time a danger to lose track and get out of hand.
Does freedom exist at all if there are no limits? Just asking cautiously...
This is also a big issue in improvisation. Total freedom is almost a little scary? Who knows that? And yet freedom is the condition for being able to discover and create something new.
And not knowing what is to come is what enables us to be open and in the here and now.
"Become comfortable with not knowing" - Eckhart Tolle.
However, if you want to show the public what you have accomplished, at some point you have to "let it go".
Better always works. In the next moment what you have created is already outdated and you yourself are a new person ;-).
So: Perfectionism go home - rather let go and sniff new freedom!
Have a look! Here comes the (not perfect) video to one of my favorite songs by Joni Mitchell, that I recorded:

Circle-Singing
Today, Monday, d. 12.12. at 7 pm, "Circlesongs und Klanglandschaften" takes place again at Kulturpunkt West, Ludwig-Winter-Straße 4 in Braunschweig. In cooperation with the "Singende Landschaft" I offer this format always on the 2nd Monday of the month.
If you haven't been yet, give it a try, because:
Singing relaxes, singing connects and singing is fun!
And did you know that singing brings us into a state of flow and that singing drives away fear?
Well, that's not really scientifically proven, but it's a nice thought.
Here's a little reading tip - an entertaining newspaper article:
The Anti-Anxiety Playlist: Who sings has no worries.
Let's hope that it works!
Which songs would be on your personal playlist???
Concert:
On Thursday, d. 15.12. we play at 19:30 with the quartet in the Roter Saal, Schlossplatz 1, Braunschweig.
On the program are some "old" pieces from the last album "On Air On Water" and some completely new pieces that I composed last year.
As you know, I set some German poems to music as part of the Gema scholarship. We're playing those live for the first time. I'm really looking forward to it and I'm really curious what you think of the pieces!
I'll only tell you this much: It's an experiment, because singing German is still new and feels very different from English.
I wish you a peaceful Advent season and a Merry Christmas!
And above all, stay healthy!!!
Love
Britta
